MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- The Amherst College women's lacrosse team saw its season come to its conclusion Saturday when it fell to No. 1 Middlebury in the quarterfinals of the 2022 NESCAC Tournament, 20-2.
The Mammoths finished with a 9-7 record. The loss marks the end of head coach
Chris Paradis' remarkable career at the school. She finished with a
career coaching record of 321-123 (.707), Her 321 wins are the 10th most by any women's lacrosse coach across all divisions of the NCAA and the 4th highest total at the Div. III level.
Paradis guided Amherst to 14 NCAA Tournament berths, including 1 national championship win in 2003, over her 27 seasons.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* The Panthers got off to a quick start, rattling off four-consecutive goals to start the game.
Sydney Larsen put Amherst on the board with 5:20 remaining in the first quarter, an unassisted tally that made it 4-1 Panthers.
* Middlebury would score 13 consecutive goals to take a 17-1 lead, but Amherst senior
Marina Bevacqua broke up that run with an unassisted goal with 10:44 left in the game.
BY THE NUMBERS:
* Amherst had 10 groundballs in the loss.
Brynn Korpi, Grace Wykoff and
Caroline Stole led the way with two each. The Mamoths had 11 draw controls, Larsen led the way with two.
Caitlin Hoffman had two caused turnovers, one draw control and one groundball.
* Stole and
Caroline Fischer combined to make 20 saves.
