BRUNSWICK, Maine – The 20th-ranked Amherst College men's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the NESCAC campaign against the 7th-ranked Bowdoin Polar Bears in a close contest that ended 5-4. The Mammoths took on the Polar Bears at Maine Pines, an indoor venue near Bowdoin's campus in Maine.
Amherst began with the three doubles matches, each of which were separated by a few points. Senior

Sujit Chepuri continued their fine form at the #1 doubles spot, winning 8-5, but the #2 doubles pair of senior
Harris Foulkes and first-year
Ed Opie and the #3 pair of first-year
Kobe Ellenbogen and sophomore
Micah Elias fell in their matches. The six singles matches were then split by the two teams, with Amherst winning at the #2, #4 and #6 spots but losing at the #1, #3 and #5 spots.

The Mammoths travel further north to Waterville, Maine, in preparation for their upcoming match against 33rd-ranked Colby College. This match will take place on Sunday (April 2) at 10 a.m. on the indoor courts.
