AMHERST, Mass. -- Blue Jays forward Rachel Jackson's 64th-minute goal lifted Johns Hopkins University to a 2-1 win over the Amherst College women's soccer team in round of 32 action in the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Hitchcock Field.
The Blue Jays (16-1-2) advance to face Wesleyan in the round of 16 while the season comes to a close for the Mammoths with a record of 15-2-2, which included a 14-game unbeaten streak and an 8-1-1 record in NESCAC play, which was good for a tie atop the conference standings.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- After a scoreless first half, All-NESCAC forward Ruby Hastie chased down a header from Natalie Landau and scored her 13th goal of the season in the 47th minute.
- Johns Hopkins tied the game in the 56th minute when Katie Sullivan sent a corner kick into the box and Bonnie Shea deflected it into the back of the net for her third goal of the season.
- Jackson's game-winner came when Riley O'Toole sent a chip shot forward and Jackson was able to maneuver through the back line and fire a shot to the back of the net for her eighth goal of the season.
