Amherst, MA - Following a rainy 3-2 overtime win over Trinity College on Tuesday night, the top-seeded Amherst College women's soccer team faced the Bantams yet again in the first round of NESCAC tournament play on Saturday, advancing to the semifinals with a 2-1 overtime victory.
With this seventh consecutive win, the Mammoths improve to an overall record of 14-1-1 (8-1-1 in NESCAC). The road to the NESCAC Championship goes through Amherst and the Mammoths will play again this Saturday on Hitchcock Field at 11:00am against Middlebury College, whom the team battled to a 0-0 finish in early October. The victor will advance to the NESCAC Championship on Sunday.
Game Highlights
- Amherst earned several good looks at goal throughout the first half, with senior Natalie Landau '22 delivering two shots in the first three minutes, the first saved by Bantam keeper Jennifer Stuart and the second missing wide. Senior defender Kim Zhou '22 fought for good position in the 40th minute, sending a near-miss just wide of the right post.
- The scoring drought ended in the 80th minute on a high-arching shot from senior Ruby Hastie '22 that soared just above the fingertips of Stuart. First-year midfielder Sierra Rosado '25 had the feed on Hastie's 10th goal of the season.
- Trinity wasted no time answering. 52 seconds later, Sadie Rudolph delivered a well-placed corner kick to Caroline Sullivan, who scored to tie the game 1-1 and force the quarterfinal match into overtime.
- In the 95th minute, it was again Ruby Hastie who, unassisted, sent the ball ricocheting off the post into the back of the net, besting the Bantams in sudden death just as she had four days prior.

- Amherst battled for more shots and shots on goal, finishing with 29-19 and 15-8 advantages, respectively.
