NESCAC Release
HADLEY, Mass. – First-year Kyra Naftel of the Amherst College softball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week following her stellar play during the Purple & White's Spring Break trip, as announced by the league office Monday.
The Santa Clarita, Calif. native helped Amherst register an 8-3 overall record to open the 2016 season, most notably acting as the only Purple & White player to record a hit in all 11 games, including nine multi-hit outings.
Naftel's most impressive performance came in Amherst's 6-3 victory over the University of New England, as she went a perfect 4-for-4, including a double, with two runs scored, a RBI, and a stolen base.
The first-year currently leads the Purple & White in hits (22), runs (11), triples (3), batting average (.537), and slugging percentage (.756).
Amherst returns to action on Wednesday, March 30, with a double-header against WPI in its home opener.
