GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Both sides had bouts of substantial momentum that led close offensive opportunities in a fast paced game that saw only 11 stops-of-play due to fouls.
- The Purple & White nearly earned the win with 5:04 left to play in double overtime. Off a throw in, senior Megan Kim was able to corral the ball, beat one Bobcat defender and rifle a shot from the top left of the box, however her shot sailed just inches over the crossbar.
- With just 27 seconds remaining in play, Bates forced Amherst netminder Holly Burwick '16 to make her biggest save of the game to preserve the 0-0 score. After a pass from midfield found Bobcat Leah Humes in a footrace with the Amherst defense, Burwick came out to just outside the goalie box to make a slide tackle save before any damage could be done.
- Amherst held the advantage in both shots and corner kick opportunities, 21-17 and 7-4, respectively.
- Burwick recorded 11 saves in goal for the Purple & White, while Maeve McNamara '19 took a game-high five shots in the matchup.
