Jeffs Resume Winning Ways Against Conn. College

AMHERST, MA – The Amherst men's soccer team resumed their winning ways this afternoon by toppling visiting NESCAC rival Conn. College 3-1 in regulation to move to 8-1 (4-1 NESCAC) on the season. The Camels dropped to 2-5-1 (0-5 NESCAC) with the loss.

The Jeffs avenged their first loss of the season from last weekend with an overall dominating performance at home over the Camels. In just the third minute of play, sophomore forward Jacob Duker (Newton, MA) pounded home a Ryan O'Donnell (Belchertown, MA) cross to take an early lead.

While the Jeffs controlled the ball for much of the game, the Camels netted an equalizer in the 31st minute when sophomore midfielder Chris Meinke (Westport, CT) unleashed a powerful full volley off a David Kellogg (Kula, HI) corner.

Not to be outdone by the amazing Conn. College goal, Duker found the net just a minute and a half into the second frame off a long Mark Crane (Cambridge, MA) throw-in. To net his third on the day, Duker finished a senior co-captain Mike Wohl (Northampton, MA) cross in the 77th minute to put the game away.

Senior goal keeper Mohamed Zeidan (Eden Prarie, MN) was solid in net for Amherst making three saves, while his counterpart sophomore Ted Lane (Portland, OR) turned away 10 shots for the camels.
