Jeffs Dominate Colby for 11th Win of Season

AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College men's soccer team won its 11th game of the season on Saturday, defeating NESCAC rival Colby College 2-0 at Hitchcock Field.  The Jeffs were led by Western Massachusetts products Ryan O'Donnell (Belchertown, MA) and Mike Wohl (Northampton, MA) in the win.

Amherst controlled the run of play against the White Mules, and out-shot them on the day, 19-2. Amherst also had a number of offensive pushes which resulted in 11 corners to Colby's 3.  O'Donnell netted his second goal of the season in the 26th minute, when Wohl played a short ball through the left side of the defense. O'Donnell lined up the shot, and roofed a soft shot into the upper-right corner.

Amherst continued to keep pressure high, as they forced Colby goalie Josh Kahane (Newton, MA) to make five saves on the day. In the second half, Wohl was sprung free by a Nick Lynch (Kingston, Jamaica) lob, and was able to finish the breakaway with a powerful shot to the right side of the net.

Amherst held onto the 2-0 lead with the help of strong defensive play from John Kneeland (Holden, MA), William Warren (Houston, TX) and Grayson Holland (Sudbury, MA) and the combination of Jeff Grover (Framingham, MA) and Moe Zeidan (Eden Prarie, MN). The goal-keeping duo combined for their fourth shutout on the year.

The Jeffs return to action on the road next Saturday, October 21, when they face Little Three rival Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
