Jeffs Remain Undefeated in NESCAC Play

AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College women's soccer team moved to 8-1-1 (5-0-1 NESCAC) on the season with a 1-0 win over NESCAC rival Colby College on Saturday.

Junior Katie Coffey (Florence, MA) assisted first-year Meg Murphy (Springfield, MA) in the first half for the lone goal of the day, giving Coffey a team-leading 14 points on the season.  The White Mules threatened early in the second half with a key scoring opportunity on a corner kick, but senior goalkeeper Piper Crowell (San Rafael, CA) was able to smother a point-blank Colby shot to retain the 1-0 Amherst lead.

Amherst is riding a three-game winning streak heading into their final stretch of games, all of which are against NESCAC opponents.  Currently sitting alone in first place in their conference, the Jeffs can win the regular season NESCAC Championship outright by winning their final three games.

The Jeffs return to action Wednesday for a NESCAC match-up with visiting Connecticut College at 4 p.m.
