SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Amherst College women's soccer team, ranked 11th in the nation and second in New England, improved to 2-0-1 on Thursday night with a 1-0 shutout of non-conference host Springfield College. Sophomore Lesley Pruzansky (Saratoga, CA) notched the lone score for the Jeffs, while junior goalie Emily Durwood (Kansas City, KS) posted her first career shutout, collecting three saves.

After a scoreless first half and a bevy of missed breakaway scoring opportunities, Pruzansky scored unassisted in the 67th minute, lofting a shot over the outstretched arms of Springfield junior goalie Christina Davis. Davis had nine saves for the Pride, who fell to 2-3-1 with the loss.

Amherst returns to action Saturday at 11 a.m. hosting NESCAC rival Tufts University.
