MIDDLEBURY, VT - The 20th-ranked Amherst College women's soccer team posted its second-consecutive scoreless tie and fourth deadlock of the season, playing 24th-ranked NESCAC host Middlebury College to a 0-0 double-overtime stalemate on Saturday. Amherst sophomore keeper Piper Crowell (San Rafael, CA) earned her second straight shutout and was credited with 10 stops as the Jeffs move to 3-1-4 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 2-0-3.
Both squads had ample scoring opportunities throughout regulation, but neither team capitalized. Middlebury tallied an apparent game-winning goal at the end of the first overtime, but the score was nullified due to an offsides call.
Middlebury senior goalie Els Van Woert finished with 14 saves as the Panthers remain undefeated at 6-0-2 (3-0-2 NESCAC).
Amherst returns to action Thursday at 4 p.m., hosting non-conference foe Mt. Holyoke College.
