Jeffs Edged at Wesleyan, 1-0

MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Amherst College men's soccer team suffered just its second loss of the season on Saturday, falling 1-0 at NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University. The Cardinals notched the game-winner with 18:30 left in regulation as they improved to 6-4-1 (4-2-1 NESCAC), placing them fifth in the conference standings, while the Jeffs fell to 10-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

The two squads battled for over 70 minutes of scoreless play until Wesleyan sophomores Julian Canzoneri (Newton, MA) and Jared Ashe (Stamford, CT) found senior midfielder Mike Trofa (Wilton, CT) for the lone score of the contest.

Senior goalkeeper Dan Penrod (Piedmont, CA) earned the shutout for the Cardinals collecting four saves, while junior Greg Lockwood (Vancouver, WA) manned the net for the Jeffs, nabbing just one save.
