Jeffs Improve Conference Mark to 5-0-3, Blank Wesleyan, 3-0

MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Amherst College women's soccer team improved to 7-1-4 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 5-0-3 with a 3-0 shutout victory at NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Saturday. Senior tri-captain Leslie Curren (Arlington, MA) scored her second straight game-winner and dealt an assist, while classmates Ashley Harmeling (N. Reading, MA) and Lee-Jay Henry (Springfield, MA) found the net for the Jeffs as well.

Curren's deciding goal came off an Adrienne Showler (Ottawa, Ontario) assist at the 19:06-mark to seal the win for the Jeffs. Harmeling tickled the twine just 4:15 after the break off a feed from first-year Heather Nowak (New Haven, CT), giving Amherst a 2-0 edge, and Curren dished out her first assist of the season to Henry for the final score of the afternoon with just over 18 minutes left in regulation.

Sophomore goalie Piper Crowell (San Rafael, CA) and junior Emily Durwood (Kansas City, KS) shared time in goal as Crowell needed just one save to post the Jeffs sixth shutout of the season. Wesleyan senior goalie Kelly McFarling (Atlanta, GA) collected 10 saves as the Cardinals dropped to 3-10 (1-7 NESCAC).

Amherst returns to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. at non-conference opponent Rhode Island College.
