Jeffs Fall at Conn. College 3-1 in NESCAC opener

NEW LONDON, CT - The Amherst College women's soccer team fell 3-1 in its NESCAC opener at Connecticut College on Sunday. The Jeffs were down early as the Camels built a 2-0 lead before halftime, and then netted a third goal before Amherst was able to get on the scoreboard. Junior Adrienne Showler (Ottawa, Ont.) prevented the shutout for the Jeffs with an unassisted goal in the 69th minute.

Sophomore Maggie Driscoll, senior Emily Shelton and senior Kelly Roman scored goals for Conn. College, respectively, as the Camels outshot Amherst, 20-11.

First-year goalkeeper Jeanette Crowell (San Rafael, CA) had five saves in net for the Lord Jeffs, while first-year Lindsay Graff and senior Kyle Ridgeway played in between the pipes for the Camels.

Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 5 p.m. at non-league rival Smith College.
