Pruzansky's First Career Goal Gives Jeffs 2-1 Win At ECSU

WILLIMANTIC, CT - First-year Lesley Pruzansky (Saratoga, CA) came off the bench in the second half to score her first career goal and lead the Amherst College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory at Eastern Connecticut State University on Wednesday. ECSU, ranked seventh in New England, falls to 2-3 while the Jeffs improve to 2-2 on the year.

Junior Ashley Harmeling (N. Reading, MA) gave Amherst the lead with eight seconds remaining in the first half with a goal, her third of the year, from 20 yards out that sailed over the ECSU keeper's head. The Warriors tied the game at the 64-minute mark when sophomore Jenn Orme scored off a pass from junior Megan Taylor. Pruzansky's game-winner found the net with only 3:32 remaining and avenged last year's 1-0 overtime loss to ECSU.

First-year keeper Jeanette Crowell (San Rafael, CA) had four saves for Amherst, while senior Stacey Schofield notched 11 for the host Warriors.

Amherst returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. at NESCAC rival Bates College.
