11th-Ranked Jeffs Finish Regular Season With 0-0 Double-Overtime Tie

AMHERST, MA - The 11th-ranked Amherst College women's soccer team ended its regular season with 0-0 double-overtime stalemate with visiting NESCAC rival Trinity College on Saturday. With the tie, Amherst earns the No. 2 seed and a first-round home game in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament. The Jeffs (9-3-2/5-2-2 NESCAC) open tournament play tomorrow at Noon against visiting No. 7 seed Tufts University.

The shutout was Amherst's sixth straight and rookie netminder Jeanette Crowell's (San Rafael, CA) fifth of the season. Crowell played all 120 minutes and needed just five saves to hold Trinity at bay, as the Jeffs outshot the Bantams 19-10.

For Trinity, junior goalie Brenna Shields (Cutchogue, NY) went the distance, finishing with 11 saves. The Bantams (9-4-1/5-3-1 NESCAC) earn the No. 5 seed in the NESCAC Tournament and open postseason play tomorrow at Noon at fourth-seeded Bates College.
