Jeffs Post 1-0 Overtime Win Over Wesleyan

AMHERST, MA - Behind a game-winning goal by senior forward Frank Perry (Hartford, CT) just 47 seconds into overtime, the Amherst College men's soccer team improved to 9-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in NESCAC play with its seventh shutout of the season - a 1-0 Homecoming win over visiting Little Three rival Wesleyan University (5-5/3-3 NESCAC) - on Saturday.

Perry scored the game-winner - his team-leading seventh goal of the season - on a header off a nifty feed from senior quad-captain Mike York (Natick, MA). Amherst sophomore goalie Greg Lockwood (Vancouver, WA) was a stone wall in net behind a strong defense, turning away seven shots en route to his third shutout.

Wesleyan junior Dan Penrod (Piedmont, CA) had a stellar game in goal as well, finishing with nine saves, as the Jeffs outshot the Cardinals 18-14. .

Ranked fifth in New England, Amherst returns to action next Saturday at 11 a.m. at NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College.
