Montigny Tallies Game-Winner as 14th-Ranked Jeffs Blank Mt. Holyoke, 1-0

SOUTH HADLEY, MA - Junior forward Tracy Montigny (E. Granby, CT) scored the game's lone goal 5:01 into the opening period, and the defense held on for the next 85 minutes as the 14th-ranked Amherst College women's soccer team blanked non-league host Mt. Holyoke College 1-0 on Thursday. Amherst rookie netminder Jeanette Crowell (San Rafael, CA) registered four saves en route to her second career shutout.

Junior Ashley Harmeling (N. Reading, MA) dished out her second assist of the season as Montigny capitalized on a defensive miscommunication. The Amherst defense was outstanding, turning away nine corner kicks and allowing the host Lyons only four shots on goal, as the Jeffs improve to 7-3-1 with their second shutout in their last three games.

Sophomore Tiffany Picard had 11 saves for Mt. Holyoke, which falls to 4-8-1.

Amherst hosts NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
