WATERVILLE, ME - The sixth-ranked Amherst College men's soccer team defeated host NESCAC rival Colby College on Saturday, 3-1. Sophomore Adrien de Bontin (Kenilworth, IL) scored his first two goals of the season, including the game winner, as the Jeffs improve to 7-2-1 (4-1-1 NESCAC).
Senior Josh Holt (Carslisle, MA) assisted de Bontin on his first score just under 40 minutes into regulation, and de Bontin found the goal unassisted just over a minute later to give Amherst a 2-0 lead at the break. Senior quad-captain Frank Perry (Hartford, CT) netted his fifth goal of the season at the 51-minute mark with a header off a free kick from classmate Jeff Cantwell (Randolph, NJ). Colby junior Trevor McWilliams prevented the shutout for the White Mules, unassisted, with just over a minute remaining in regulation.
Sophomore Greg Lockwood (Vancouver, WA) had nine saves for the Jeffs and junior goalkeeper Brian Davidson had seven for Colby, which falls to 5-4-1 (1-4-1 NESCAC).
Amherst hosts NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University Saturday at 11 a.m.
