NEW LONDON, CT - Junior midfielder Pat Garvey (Suffield, CT) scored a pair of goals and the Jeff defense limited NESCAC rival Connecticut College to just four shots, as the Amherst College men's soccer team remained undefeated with a 3-0 win in New London, Conn., on Saturday.
Amherst junior midfielder Carlo Valdesolo (Andover, MA) assisted on Garvey's first goal 16 minutes into the game, while sophomore forward Tim Canon (Easthampton, MA) set up Garvey's second tally 4:51 into the second half. Valdesolo then sealed the win in the 79th minute off a feed from senior midfielder David Michener (Eden Prairie, MN), playing his first game of the season after rehabbing an ankle injury.
Senior goalkeeper Bill Orum (Greenwich, CT) needed just two saves en route to his second shutout of the season, as Amherst improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in NESCAC play. Conn. fell to 2-3 and 0-3 with the loss.
The Jeffs return to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. against visiting NESCAC rival Tufts University.
