No. 7 Drop Road Opener at Bates

LEWISTON, ME - Amherst College fell victim to a late Bates College goal as the Jeffs fell to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC with a 1-0 loss on Saturday. Bates improved to 2-0 (1-0 NESCAC) with the win.

Junior halfback Kate Dockery found sophomore halfback Melissa Ostuni in front of the net in the 80th minute to set the final score at 1-0.

Bates goalkeeper Kim Martell tallied 13 saves for her second straight shutout, while Amherst keeper Brooke Diamond (Longmeadow, MA) stopped nine shots in defeat. Amherst entered the game ranked seventh in the most recent NSCAA New England Division III poll, while Bates was unranked. This was the first meeting between the two teams since 1996.
