Men's Soccer Opens 2000 With 2-0 Shutout of Colby

AMHERST, Mass. Amherst College opened its men soccer season with a 2-0 shutout win over NESCAC rival Colby College Sunday afternoon at Hitchcock Field.

The Jeffs drew first blood at the 22:48 mark when junior midfielder Adrian Talbott (Washington, DC) pounced on a loose corner kick and blasted it past Colby goalkeeper Justin Amirault for a 1-0 lead.

Amherst added another score after the break when first year midfielder Timothy Canon (Easthampton, MA) headed a crossing pass from sophomore forward Patrick Garvey (Suffield, CT) just inside the far post to set the final score at 2-0.
