Men's soccer forced their second match of the season into overtime against a physical Brandeis team. Amidst the rain and the mud, Amherst haunted the Brandeis box and plagued goalie Jeff MacKay with 26 shots on the contest. A shot by Tim Christian '98 put the Jeffs on the scoreboard late in the first half, but Brandeis retaliated with an equalizer two minutes later.
Despite a string of close shots by the Jeffs, 90 minutes was not enough to decide a winner. With the clouds rolling in, the teams prepared for overtime. Pushed into the corner of the field, Mario Watts '97 blasted a lob over the defense to put Amherst up, 2-1. But Brandeis fought back, charging the box and netting the last goal of the game.
