Davenport Squash Courts

Constructed in 1933-34 as a singular building after a generous contribution by John Davenport (Class of 1858), it was connected to Coolidge Cage during the construction of Alumni Gym to create one large central athletic facility. Renovated in 2000, the two-story space houses 10 squash courts with individual live scoring monitors in addition to the three large monitors throughout the facility that track all the action in real time. The facility’s first court, the exhibition court, is named the William McCall Vickery ’57 Court in recognition of the devoted alumnus, volunteer, employee, & supporter of Amherst.
