Senior sprinter Cody Pierce won two conference titles to help the Mammoths win their first NESCAC Men’s Track and Field Championship.
Pierce won the conference championship in the 400m with a personal-best time of 47.11, tied for the ninth-best time in Division III this season. He was also part of the 4x100m relay team that won the NESCAC title with a time of 40.92 seconds to break the meet and school records and win Amherst’s first-ever championship in the event. Pierce helped the Mammoths earn points towards their team title in two other events with a fourth-place finish in the 4x400m relay and a fifth-place finish in the 200m.
A statistics major from Linwood, New Jersey, Pierce racked up 10 All-NESCAC honors in his four-year career, including four straight in the 4x100m relay, and is a three-time All-American, including a runner-up finish at this year’s NCAA Indoor Championships as part of Amherst’s distance medley relay team.
