  • Amherst Secures Eighth Place Showing in Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup

    CLEVELAND, Ohio. – For the 13th consecutive season, Amherst College has placed in the top-ten in the country when the final results of the IMG Learfield College Directors’ Cup were announced Wednesday. The Mammoths took eighth place out of 338 Division III schools in the annual competition, which ranks schools who have reached the national level of competition in each NCAA sport.

    HADLEY, Mass. - Seventy-five Amherst College student-athletes were named to the 2018 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Fall All-Academic team this Wednesday for their success in the classroom, while eight Mammoths were recognized for their dedication to sportsmanship and named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

    Olivia Polischeck '21 paced the Mammoths with a 39th place finish, as the Amherst College women’s cross country team logged a scoring order of 39-51-82-84-110(130)(162) to finish 13th overall at the 44-team New England Division III Championships hosted by Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon.

    Braving the rainy conditions at Franklin Park, the Amherst College women’s cross country team logged a scoring order of 26-32-42-53-60(69)(72) and posted an average team 6K time of 24:02 to earn eighth overall at the 35th annual NESCAC Championships hosted by Tufts University Saturday morning.

    Ranked No. 9 in the New England Region in the latest USTFCCCA Poll, the Amherst College women’s cross country team is set to travel to Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 27 to compete in the 2018 NESCAC Championships hosted by Tufts University. Competitors in the 35th installment of the annual conference meet will run the trails of Franklin Park, with the women's six-kilometer race scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.

    Kristin Ratliff '20 and Olivia Polischeck '21 each placed inside the top-30 in the 307-harrier race, as the Amherst College women’s cross country placed seventh overall with a scoring order of 23-30-53-61-65(95)(112) at the 27-team Connecticut College Invitational Saturday morning at Harkness Memorial Park.

    With a scoring order of 34-50-94-184-202(204)(275) and an average 6K mark of 23:34, the Amherst College women’s cross country team concluded competition at the 45th annual Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, with a 21st place finish in the multi-divisional Brown race Saturday afternoon at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course at Lehigh University.
