HADLEY, Mass. - Amherst College senior volleyball player Maggie Danner garnered First Team All-NESCAC honors as announced by the league office Wednesday.
For the third time in her illustrious career, Danner was named a First Team All-NESCAC honoree after securing the recognition as a first-year, again as a sophomore, and finally as a senior. Last year, the Newport Beach, Calif. native was tabbed a Second Team All-NESCAC selection. She is also one of just two players to earn All-NESCAC honors during all four years of her collegiate career.
Danner capped her outstanding collegiate-career as the team leader in several offensive categories, including kills (308), kills per set (3.35), and total attacks (954). She added 121 digs, 51 total blocks, and registered 339.0 total points in 2016. Danner totaled 123 kills and 3.32 kills per set in conference play to rank fourth in the league in both categories. Danner finished with double-digit kills in 19 of 26 matches played during the season - with 10 of those instances coming against NESCAC competition. She smashed a collegiate single-match career-high 24 kills in Amherst's regular-season finale - a 3-2 win over Wesleyan.
Danner helped Amherst to a 17-9 overall record in 2016 which featured a 7-3 mark in conference play. The Purple & White secured the third seed in the NESCAC postseason tournament and advanced to the semifinals for fourth consecutive season.
