CLINTON, N.Y. – The Amherst College volleyball team used a 13-kill effort from Nicole Gould '17, and 11 kills from Lauren Reppert '19 as the Purple & White powered to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 26-24) sweep of Hamilton College in Saturday afternoon's NESCAC match at Scott Field House in Clinton, N.Y.
With the win, Amherst snaps its two-match losing skid and improves to 11-6 overall, 5-3 in NESCAC play, while Hamilton moves to 6-8 on the season, 2-6 in league action. The Purple & White return to LeFrak Gymnasium beginning Thursday, Oct. 20 for a string of seven straight home matches to close out the regular season. Amherst hosts Regis College at 6 p.m. Thursday, before it begins Hall of Fame Invitational action on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22.
Amherst's offense was led by Charlotte Duran '20 who handed out 20 helpers, while Kate Bres '17 added 16 assists en route to helping the Purple & White register a .293 hitting percentage. Maggie Danner '17 finished with seven kills behind Gould (13) and Reppert (11), while Emily Kolsky '20 chipped in five kills.
Hayes Honea '19 was the match-leader in digs with 24, while Bres, Asha Walker '18, and Kelci Keeno '17 finished with nine digs apiece. Honea also led all players with four service aces, while Marialexa Natsis '18 totaled three assisted blocks to lead the Purple & White.
Hamilton was led by an 18-kill effort from Giuliana Rankin, while Erin Donahue followed with seven kills. Kyndal Burdin led the Continentals with 32 assists, while Christine Zizzi chipped in a team-best 19 digs. Donahue dug 13 balls, while Margaret O'Brien added three block assists in the losing effort.
