AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Annika Reczek of the Amherst College volleyball team has been named NESCAC Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday. Reczek shares the weekly honor with Wesleyan first-year and middle blocker, Gabby Bennett.
A native of Miami, Fla., Reczek was stellar on the court during the Purple & White's 3-1 week that featured a 3-0 sweep of Colby-Sawyer on Sept. 21, and 3-2 wins over archrival Williams (Sept. 23) and Babson (Sept. 24), smashing 17 kills and registering 25 total blocks (1 solo, 24 assisted) to average 1.47 blocks per set during the four-match stretch.
Dominating the net in Amherst's first win over Williams since the 2012 regular season, the middle blocker hammered 11 kills and assisted on nine blocks to help halt the Ephs' six-match winning streak versus the Purple & White.
Amherst returns to action on Friday, Sept. 30 when they welcome Colby College to LeFrak Gymnasium for a 8 p.m. conference tilt.
