Jeffs Blank Hamilton; Tufts Tops Williams in NESCAC Quad

AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College volleyball team cruised past visiting NESCAC rival Hamilton College, 3-0, on Friday night in the first day of NESCAC Quad action. The Jeffs improve to 10-5 (2-1 NESCAC) on the season, while the Continentals fall to 4-12 (0-5 NESCAC). In other quad action, Tufts University (14-3; 2-1 NESCAC) topped Williams College (10-8; 3-2 NESCAC), 3-1. 

Amherst rolled past Hamilton, 30-20, 30-11, 30-14. Junior Kristin Quinn (Pacific Palisades, CA) led the Jeffs, posting 10 kills and five blocks, while sophomore Jaclyn DeMais (Hillsdale, NJ) tallied 11 kills, three blocks and two aces. Rookie setter Sara Heller (La Canada, CA) notched two kills and two blocks and dished out 31 assists, while sophomore libero Julie Berkley (Fullerton, CA) served up three aces and led the Amherst defense with four digs. 

Sophomore Jessica Schneidman (Katonah, NY) paced the Continentals with five kills, while senior Dee Martin (Bronx, NY)chipped in ten digs and classmate Tracy Zaino (White House Station, NJ) and first-year Julia Penrose (New York, NY)combined for 13 assists. 

Tufts defeated Williams on Court Two on Friday evening, 30-32, 30-22, 30-22, 32-30. Junior Kelli Harrison (Blue Jay, CA) led the way for the Jumbos, notching 25 kills and 16 digs, while sophomore Katie Wysham (Spokane, WA) added 14 kills and three blocks. Rookie setter Kaitlin O'Reilly (Manhattan Beach, CA) dished out 53 assists and tallied 15 digs and junior Dana Fleisher (Aspen, CO) added eight kills and 13 digs. 

Senior Annie Denison (Portland, OR) led the Ephs, notching 26 kills and 15 digs, while classmate Kate Sauerhoff (St. Louis, MO) added 13 kills. Junior setter Alexis Knepp (Austin, TX) dished out 41 assists and tallied 18 digs. 

Amherst returns to action at noon on Saturday against Middlebury College, while Tufts squares off against Hamilton at the same time on Court Two.
