WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Jackie Bukzin won the singles draw crown on the final day of competition as Amherst's women's tennis concluded action at the ITA New England Regional Championships on Sunday afternoon.
Jackie Bukzin headed into today representing Amherst in both the singles and doubles draw. In the singles bracket, she began facing off against Caroline Garrido of Tufts where she defeated her 6-3, 6-1. She then moved on to the finals where she took down Venia Yeung of Wesleyan 6-1 6-0 to win the championship. Bukzin did not give up a single set to her opponents through the entire singles tournament.
In doubles, Jackie Bukzin '22 and Claire Evans '22 (seeded 5th) were the last Mammoths standing as they took on Leah Bush and Chloe Henderson of Williams (seeded 2nd), taking the win 8-2 in the round of 4. The duo saw their tremendous run come to an end as they fell to Kristina Yu and Victoria Yu in the finals by a 6-4, 6-3 mark.
The Mammoths will return to action next weekend on October 6th as they match up against Williams College at 1:00 PM.
