Mammoths Unblemished in Season Opening Win Over Camels

AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College women's squash team did not drop a single game on Saturday afternoon as they opened the season with a 9-0 victory over Connecticut College in the season opener for both teams at Davenport Squash Courts.

Amherst (1-0) allowed just one player to score more than five points in a game as they rolled to a victory over the Camels (0-1).

First year Daksha Pathak picked up her first collegiate win at #1, setting the pace for the Mammoths, who also saw Lauren Weil '23 earn her first collegiate win with an 11-4, 11-3, 11-5 win at #3.

Pathak topped Margaret Davey 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 for her victory at the top of the ladder, and Lilly Soroko '22 defeated Molly Carabatsos 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 at the second spot.

Katy Correia '20 beat Davis Lemay 11-3, 11-5, 11-1 at #5, while Jenna Finkelstein '21 held her opponent to a single point in two out of three games for a straight set win at #8.

Pierson Klein '20, Emma Spencer '22, Riddhi Sampat '21, and Caroline Conway '20 were all victorious for Amherst as well.

Amherst plays their second and final match of 2019 next Friday when they host St. Lawrence at 7:00 PM. After that, the Mammoths will be off until after New Year's.
