AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College women's lacrosse team secured Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad distinction and six student-athletes landed on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for their performance in the classroom in 2019.
Capturing a 3.54 combined program GPA, Amherst is one of 146 Division III institutions and 303 total institutions across Division I, II, III and the NAIA to claim the team accolade. Teams need to post a team GPA of 3.0 or higher in the current academic year to earn Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad laurels.
Honoring individual student-athletes, the IWLCA named 630 players from 166 institutions to the Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll, with recipients needing to be in their junior or senior season and boast a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher to earn the accolade.
Only 19 teams in the country had more student-athletes recognized by the IWLCA, with the Mammoths claiming six spots on the Honor Roll.
Economics major Hannah Fox, Biochemistry & Biophysics major Kat Krieg and Psychology major Katherine Malone represent the Amherst junior class, while Statistics major Kaitlyn Haase, Economics major Katie Savage and Mathematics major Sabrina Solow represent the class of 2019.
48 NESCAC student-athletes were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, with 42 additional representatives coming from Bates (3), Bowdoin (5), Colby (6), Connecticut College (3), Hamilton (4), Middlebury (11), Tufts (8), Wesleyan (6) and Williams (2).
