April 26, 2003

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Reigning NESCAC Player of the Week Abby Ouimet (Hatfield, MA) scored six goals, including the Jeffs' last two in regulation and the game-winner with 39 seconds left in overtime, to lift the third-ranked Amherst College women's lacrosse team to a dramatic 12-11 win at sixth-ranked Williams College on Saturday. With the victory, Amherst claims the outright Little Three title and the second seed in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament. The Jeffs open tournament play Sunday at noon against the No. 7 seed, Little Three rival Wesleyan University, at Amherst's Hitchcock Field.

Junior midfielder Liz Martin (Baltimore, MD) added a pair of goals for Amherst, which finishes the regular season at 12-1 overall and 8-1 in conference play, their only blemish being a 16-5 loss at two-time defending national champion Middlebury College on Sunday, April 6. Rookie Scotty Hanley (Sparks, MD), sophomore Kennon Kay (Providence, RI), junior Allison Aldrich (Cornwall, VT) and senior Erin Beaumont (Summit, NJ) also cracked the scoring column for the Jeffs.

Amherst senior goalkeeper Brooke Diamond (Longmeadow, MA) was stellar between the pipes, finishing with 10 saves.
