Third-Ranked Jeffs Outlast Wesleyan, 15-10

AMHERST, MA - The third-ranked Amherst College women's lacrosse team improved to 7-1 overall with a 15-10 victory over visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University (5-4) on Saturday afternoon at Garber Field. Junior attacker Allison Aldrich (Cornwall, VT) paced the Jeffs with five goals, while classmate midfielder Liz Martin (Baltimore, MD) chipped in with four goals. 

Amherst jumped out to an early 2-0 lead when Aldrich and senior midfielder Mary Kate Allen (Springfield, MA) tickled the twine. The Cardinals countered when senior attacker Erin Malone (Essex, VT) notched a goal. Martin scored her third goal of the game to give Amherst an 8-6 lead at the break. 

Amherst senior attacker Abby Ouimet (Hatfield, MA) rounded the scoring out at 15-10 with her 13th goal of the season. Senior netminder Brooke Diamond (Longmeadow, MA) finished with 15 saves for the Jeffs, while rookie goalie Kate Jones (Duxbury, MA) finished with nine. 

Amherst returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. at non-league foe Springfield College.
