Lloyd Hits Century Mark as Jeffs Crush Colby, 10-1

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Geneva Lloyd '13 eclipsed 100 career points with two goals and four assists as the Amherst College women's hockey team raced to a 10-1 win over Colby College in league play Friday night at Alfond Rink.

With eight goals and seven assists this season to lead Amherst (6-4, 4-1 NESCAC), Lloyd has 38 goals and 64 assists for 102 career points in 92 games, becoming the seventh player in program history to hit the century mark.

Amherst scored two goals in seven seconds to take a 2-0 lead at the first intermission Friday. Besides the quick goals, the rest of the period was fairly evenly matched. Ashley Salerno '13 got things started, scoring at 7:10 on a long shot from the right point. The Lord Jeffs quickly won the ensuing face-off and Lloyd scored from the left point on another long shot just seven seconds later.

The Jeffs scored just 40 seconds into the second period for a 3-0 margin. Amherst immediately put pressure on and got a goal from Tori Salmon '15 when she hammered home a rebound off the original shot from Lloyd.

Amherst went up 4-0 just two minutes into the frame when Kaitlyn McInnis '13 fought hard in front and knocked in another shot off a rebound from a shot by Eileen Harris '16.

Erin Martin '16 made it a 5-0 game at 3:04 when her blast from between the circles ripped the net. Lloyd scored her 100th point on the power play when she picked up an assist along with Megan Doyen '13 on a goal by Salerno at 18:39.

Madeline Tank '15 tallied 2:03 into the third period for a 7-0 lead, but Colby (4-6, 0-5 NESCAC) did answer when Caroline Chessare had an unassisted goal at 3:04.

Doyen, Anne Gillard '15, and Lloyd had the other goals in the final 12 minutes for Amherst.

Kerri Stuart '14 stopped 22 shots for Amherst.

The two teams will wrap up their weekend doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 3 p.m.
