BUFFALO, NY—Amherst's Julia Koch (Rochester Hills, MI) had a goal and an assist to lead No. 6 Amherst (14-4) to a 6-2 victory over host Buffalo State (2-14-4) in a non-conference game this afternoon at the Ice Arena.
Courtney Hanlon (Fullerton, CA), Megan Curry (Shorewood, MN), Randi Zukas (Glen Head, NY), Ellen Swiontkowski (Minnetonka, MN) and Brittney Evans (Edina, MN) also scored for the Lord Jeffs. Josie Fisher (White River Junction, VT) chipped in two assists for Amherst. Gillian Toneguzzo and Linda Evans scored for the Bengals.
Amherst held a 3-0 lead through two periods of play before Buffalo State netted two goals in a three-minute span midway through the third stanza to close the gap to 3-2. The Lord Jeffs responded with three more tallies to close out the third, including an empty net goal. Amherst outshot the Bengals, 43-13, and was 1-for-4 on the power-play.
Buffalo State will host Neumann in a pair of critical ECAC West games next weekend at the Ice Arena, while Amherst will host Middlebury and Williams in NESCAC play.
