AMHERST, MA – Amherst College first-year forward Kate Dennett (Highlands Ranch, CO) was named the NESCAC Women's Hockey Co-Player of the Week for her clutch performance in the Lord Jeffs' quarterfinal overtime win over archrival Williams College.
Dennett netted the game-winning goal in overtime after collecting an assist on the game's first goal as the Jeffs advanced to the semifinals of the NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Championship for the first time in program history with a 3-2 win over Williams on Saturday.
Amherst's first-year class has played a significant role all season long, leading the Jeffs to an impressive 17-5-3 overall record and an appearance on USCHO's national rankings, as Amherst recently cracked the top 10 for the first time ever, currently sitting in the ninth slot. Dennett has tallied 11 goals and 14 assists on the season, placing her second on the NESCAC leader board for first-year scoring. Four of her goals have come in game-winning fashion, while her 14 power-play points are tied for the most in the NESCAC.
The Lord Jeffs return to action Saturday, March 3 for a semifinal match-up with second-seeded Bowdoin College. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Middlebury College.
