HARTFORD, CT – Senior defenseman Tes Siarnacki (Gardner, MA) scored two goals, while sophomore Anna MacLean (Edina, MN) added a goal and three assists to lead the Amherst College Lord Jeffs past the Trinity College Bantams in women's ice hockey this evening at the Williams Ice Rink. Amherst improves its record to 11-4-2 (7-3-2 NESCAC) with the victory, while Trinity falls to 6-9-1 (2-7 NESCAC).
Siarnacki scored her first goal on a one-time shot off passes from MacLean and Lindsey Harrington (Westford, MA). Siarnacki again found the back of the net in the first period off a shot from the point with assists going to MacLean and first-year Kirsten Dier (Appleton, WI).
Britney McKenna cut the lead in half at the 17:14 mark of the second period, but Trinity could not mount a further comeback with MacLean and Harrington adding goals of their own for Amherst to close out the scoring for the game.
Amherst senior Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) closed out the game with 20 saves in the victory, while Trinity junior Helen McCarthy stopped 28 shots in the losing effort.
With the win, Amherst increases its winning streak to 10 games. The Lord Jeffs return to action Saturday for a match-up with Hamilton College on the road. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
