NEW LONDON, CT – The Amherst College women's hockey team picked up an impressive 2-0 road win this evening over Conn. College. Sophomore Lindsey Harrington (Westford, MA) scored both Amherst goals in the win.
Harrington opened the game with her first goal of the night in the first period, on assists from Annie Morrow (Buffalo, NY) and Anna MacLean (Edina, MN) at the 17:32 mark. Amherst dominated the game from start to finish, as first-year goaltender Krystyn Elek (Summerville, SC) needed to turn away just 15 Conn. shots for the shutout win.
Morrow nabbed her second assist of the night in the third period on Harrington's second goal of the game, and 13th goal of the year, with Kristen Dier (Appleton, WI) picking up the other assist.
Connecticut College first-year Sara Christopher (Andover, MA) kept the game under control by stopping 30 shots in the contest and collecting 13 saves in a second-period outburst for Amherst.
With the win, Amherst improves to 12-1-3 over the last 16 games, and will head red hot into post-season play. Amherst will take tomorrow off before closing out the regular season Sunday with a home match-up against SUNY-Cortland at 1 p.m.
