Fifth-Seeded Jeffs Fall in NESCAC Quarterfinals at Hamilton

CLINTON, NY - The fifth-seeded Amherst College women's hockey team saw its season come to an end with a 6-1 NESCAC Tournament quarterfinal loss at fourth-seeded Hamilton College on Saturday. The Jeffs finish at 8-12-5, while Hamilton advances to next weekend's conference semifinals, where they'll face top-seeded host Bowdoin College.

Hamilton senior Marissa Halligan opened the game with a hat trick, tying the NESCAC Tournament record for goals in a game and giving the Continentals a 3-0 lead with just under 10 minutes left to play in the second period. The Jeffs finally got on the board 16:57 into the second frame as sophomore Tes Siarnacki (Gardner, MA) notched a power-play goal off a feed from classmate Alena Harrison (Westwood, MA), but that was as close as they would get as Hamilton tacked on three more scores in the final session to run away with the victory.

Amherst sophomore goalie Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) finished with 20 saves, while sophomore Caitlin Connelly grabbed 21 for Hamilton, which improved to 10-11-3.
