Jeffs Win Second Straight, Top Conn. College, 3-2

NEW LONDON, CT - The Amherst College women's hockey team posted its second consecutive victory on Friday night, topping NESCAC host Connecticut College, 3-2. Sophomore Tes Siarnacki (Gardner, MA) and first-year Nat Khazzam (Montreal, Quebec) each tallied a goal and an assist as the Jeffs improved to 5-8-5 overall and 4-7-3 in conference play.

Khazzam and fellow rookie Fairlee Frey (Eagle, ID) found Siarnacki 8:13 into the opening period, and first-year Elizabeth Ditmore (Excelsior, MN) fed junior Renee Sisti (Coventry, CT) for her team-high eighth goal of the season to give the Jeffs a 2-0 cushion with 14:51 left in the second session. Khazzam notched the eventual game-winner just over three minutes later off feeds from Siarnacki and rookie Samantha Miller (Newton, MA). Conn. rallied a comeback with scores from Kristen Van Slyke and Mallory Littman in the final minute, but couldn't overcome the deficit as the Camels fell to 4-15 (2-10 NESCAC).

Sophomore goalie Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) tallied 39 saves, while Gabby Petrill collected 25 saves for Conn.

Amherst returns to action Sunday at noon against visiting non-conference foe Southern Maine.
