Jeffs Tie Conn. College, Again

NEW LONDON, CT - After skating to a 2-2 tie on Saturday, Amherst College and Connecticut College turned the trick again on Sunday, skating to a 3-3 draw in a NESCAC women's ice hockey matchup in New London, CT. First-year forward Renee Sisti (Coventry, CT) notched the first and second goals of her career for Amherst (0-2-2/0-2-2), while fellow rookie Kate Reardon (Newton, MA) tallied a hat trick and netted the game-tying goal with 1:44 left in regulation for Conn. (0-0-3/0-0-3).

The host Camels jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period. At the 6:09-mark, Reardon scored off a pair of assists by Caley Boyd (New Canaan, CT) and Mallory Littman (Richboro, PA). Just over four minutes later, Reardon found the back of the net again from the right point to give Conn. a 2-0 edge. Amherst fought back in the middle period, scoring three unanswered goals to push ahead of the Camels 3-2. Sophomore forward Ellie Roe (Edina, MN) ignited the barrage with her first goal of the season, and Sisti knotted the score at 2-2 and then put the Jeffs ahead 3-2 just over 14 minutes into the period.

In the third, the Reardon-Boyd connection clicked for a third time with 1:46 left and the Camels and Jeffs were knotted at 3-3. It was the third tie in as many games for the Camels after playing 21 games last season without a draw.

Gabby Petrill (Greensburg, PA) notched 33 saves for the Camels. Heidi Alexander (Edina, MN) recorded 39 saves for the Jeffs.

Amherst returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. at NESCAC rival Colby College.
