Jeffs Drop Fourth Straight with 6-2 Setback at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - After falling to fourth-ranked Middlebury College on Saturday, the Amherst College women's hockey team was upended at NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College, 6-2, on Sunday. Junior forward Molly Wasserman (Minnetonka, MN) paced the Ephs with three points while senior co-captain Danielle Williams (Needham, MA) notched a goal and dished out an assist for the Jeffs.

The Ephs jumped out to an early lead. Wasserman opened the scoring 3:35 into the contest with her 11th goal of the season. Less than one minute later, junior forward Bonnie Lui (Beaconsfield, Quebec) tickled the twine. Shortly thereafter, senior forward Julia Karoly (Fair Haven, NJ) tallied, giving the hosts a 3-0 advantage. Jeff sophomore defender Alicia Pichard (Potomac, MD) fired a puck into the back of the net and Williams netted her team-leading fifth goal, cutting the lead to 3-2 heading into the second.

Sophomore defender Wendy Stone (Buffalo, NY) found net late in the second and the Ephs tacked on two more goals in the third to round the scoring out at 6-2. Jeff senior netminder Heidi Alexander (Edina, MN) finished with 37 saves while senior goalie Monelle Quivellon (Mascouche, Quebec) recorded nine saves before being relieved by classmate Tracy Borowski (Simsbury, CT), who was uncontested.

With the loss, the Jeffs drop to 1-10-3 overall and 1-8-2 in conference play, while the Ephs extended their winning streak to three games and improve to 8-6-1 and 6-3-0.

Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. at non-league foe Holy Cross.
