Williams Scores Second Straight Game-Winner as Jeffs Edge Conn., 3-2

AMHERST, MA - For the second time in as many days, Amherst College junior forward Danielle Williams (Needham, MA) torched visiting NESCAC women's hockey rival Connecticut College with a game-winning goal on a breakaway, resulting in a 3-2 win on Sunday after the Jeffs edged the Camels in similar fashion, 2-1, on Saturday. The win was Amherst's second in a row after an 0-2 start, evening their record to 2-2 on the season.

Williams' game-winner came inside the final minute of the second period off a chip pass from first-year defender Lauren Caldwell (Cranbury, NJ) who, ironically, also assisted on Williams's deciding tally on Saturday. Sophomore forward Alison White (Brookline, MA) scored each of Amherst's other two goals - both were assisted by rookie Annie Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) and sophomore forward Katie Potter (Ridgweood, NJ).

Sophomores Kyle Ridgway (South Berwick, ME) and Janet Hanson (Ipswich, MA) scored for Conn. College, which fell to 0-3 with the loss.

Amherst junior goaltender Heidi Alexander (Edina, MN) posted 20 saves for Amherst, while senior Anna Trafton (Topsham, ME) finished with a game-high 33 for the Camels. The Jeffs return to action Friday at 7 p.m. against visiting NESCAC foe Bowdoin College.
