BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – First year Janelle Jin finished in a tie for third overall and Amherst College took a third place showing as Jin and the Mammoths concluded their fall season at the NYU Invitational this weekend at Forest Hill Field Club.
All five Amherst team golfers finished in the top twenty-five for the event, led by Jin, who was alone in third place after a 78 on Saturday, and then finished in a tie for third with an 80 on Sunday.
Senior Morgan Yurosek had the team's best round of the day on Sunday, a +7 79, and she finished her tournament with a top-ten finish, all alone in 9th place with a +17 score of 162.
Isabelle Ouyang '21 bettered her score by four strokes with an 80 on Sunday and also finished in the top ten, tying for tenth with a 164. Katie Mina Lee '22 went 89-82-171 for a tie for 19th place, and India Gaume carded matching rounds of 86 for a T-24th finish.
Competing as an individual, Lily Worden '21 tied Gaume in a tie for 24th, shooting a +10 82 on Sunday to finish with a 172. Fellow individual Emily Young '20 tied for 33rd place with rounds of 93-90-183.
The Mammoths opened the tournament with a 331 on Saturday and then shaved ten strokes off of that score Sunday for a total score of 652. They were just three strokes back of NYU, who finished in second, with Williams winning the event with a 637.
