  • Amherst Softball Among Top-5 GPAs in Division III for 2018-19

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Amherst softball team was touted for their academic prowess, finishing tied for fourth in Division III for grade-point average (GPA) during the 2018-19 academic year as 13 members of the team were named 2019 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the organization Wednesday afternoon.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio. – For the 13th consecutive season, Amherst College has placed in the top-ten in the country when the final results of the IMG Learfield College Directors’ Cup were announced Wednesday. The Mammoths took eighth place out of 338 Division III schools in the annual competition, which ranks schools who have reached the national level of competition in each NCAA sport.

    AMHERST, Mass. – A six run first inning in the opening game of Amherst softball’s doubleheader against Trinity (Conn.) helped the Mammoths clinch game one by a score of 10-2 before shutting out the Bantams 7-0 in game two at Amherst Softball Field Saturday afternoon. Lorena Ukanwa '19 and Talia Bloxham '22 held Trinity to three hits combined between both competitions.

    CLERMONT, Fla. – Audrey Hansen ’21, Kate Kopatic ’20, and Ronnie Falasco ’21 each homered to lead the Amherst softball team as they claimed the first game of the day against Stockton University 4-2 before the Mammoths scored eight runs in a fifth inning explosion against Ohio Wesleyan in their second game, winning 11-6.
