CSCAA ALL-AMERICA RELEASE
SHENANDOAH, Texas – Eight members of the Amherst College men's swimming & diving team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-American honors following the squad's 20th place performance at the NCAA Division III Championships.
The CSCAA named 133 women and 140 men to its Division III All-America Team, with an additional 159 student-athletes garnering Honorable Mention (Second Team) All-American recognition. The top-eight individuals and relay members in each of the 40 men's events earned First-Team recognition, while those finishing ninth-16th are named an Honorable Mention All-American.
Junior Sam Spurrell is the lone Amherst student-athlete to land on the All-America First Team, securing the national accolade with an 8th place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:49.74.
Sean Mebust '20 also captured CSCAA honors in an individual event, earning Honorable Mention All-America status in the 200-yard breaststroke after clocking a time of 2:01.96 to place 12th overall in the consolation finals.
The Purple & White's quartets in the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard freestyle relay and 800-yard freestyle relay each finished inside the top-16 to secure Honorable Mention praise, with the NESCAC Champion 800-yard freestyle relay group of Jack Koravos '20, Charles Seltzer '19, Eric Wong '20 and Connor Haley '17 leading the way with an 12th place finish (6:42.26).
Spurrell, Elijah Spiro '18 , Koravos and Alex Dreisbach '17 touched the wall in 1:31.48 to place 14th overall in the 200-yard medley relay, while Koravos, Seltzer, Wong and Dreisbach rounded out Amherst's top performances, notching a 15th place finish with a time of 3:02.74 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
