AMHERST, Mass. – Solidifying the four-match weekend sweep at the Pioneer Valley Invitational, the No. 22 Amherst College men's squash team blanked No. 30 Hobart College to record its third 9-0 victory in as many contests Sunday morning at the Davenport Squash Courts.
After splitting the first two sets on the first court, Robinson Armour took control down the stretch to top Davis Chase, 3-1 (12-10, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7).
In the second position, Adam Lichtmacher powered past James Dougherty, 11-2, 11-7, 11-5, while Charles Sutherby responded to a tough 12-10 loss in the third set with his most decisive set of his pairing to best Quinton Ayres Crawford (11-6, 11-5, 10-12, 11-2).
Action at No. 4 saw Nate Mossé wrestle his way to a hard fought 12-10, 11-8, 11-9 win over Wallace Miller. On the fifth court, Pavan Nagaraj took the W versus Keil Reedich by a score of 11-6, 11-9, 11-7, while Andrew Leung defeated John Collins by a 11-0, 11-3, 11-1 mark at No. 6.
Overpowering Alden Weinberg in the final two sets after a 11-5, 9-11 split to open the pairing, Mitch Ford clinched a 11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7 victory on the seventh court. Arnav Parikh and Shayan Hussain rounded out the 9-0 Amherst win at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, with Parikh earning a 11-2, 11-4, 12-10 sweep of Nathan Wang and Hussain taking the point from Khalil Walker, 11-6, 11-2, 11-4.
In exhibition play on in the 10th position, Rohil Bathija picked up one final win, beating Aaron Witkin (11-3, 11-5, 11-5).
Now standing at 6-4 on the season, the Mammoths return to action on Friday, Jan. 31 when they host No. 26 Tufts University beginning at 5:00PM.
