Lupo's Two Goal, Three Assist Week Nabs NESCAC Honors

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Junior Joey Lupo of the Amherst College men's hockey team has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week for his impressive efforts on the ice this past weekend.

Headlining the offensive attack in Amherst's 2-0 week that featured conference victories over Bowdoin and Colby, Lupo twice beat the opposing netminder in addition to dishing out three assists to finish the weekend with five points.

Having a hand in even strength, power play and short-handed scores in a 6-3 win over the Polar Bears, the St. Louis, Mo. Native scored twice, including a short-handed tally, in a four-goal rally for the Mammoths before dishing out assists on two of Amherst's three goals in the first period in a 6-3 win over the Mules a day later.

With eight points this winter, Lupo currently ranks second on the Mammoths, while his five goals on the year are a team-high.

Lupo and the rest of the Mammoths return to action on Friday, January 11 when they host Tufts in a NESCAC clash beginning at 7 p.m.
